About the design

What better way to get bright florals into your everyday wardrobe than with this cute backpack? This project is a fun one for a beginner as it’s made up of easy flower granny squares.

This pattern is designed by Taome Tucker and was first published in Mollie Makes magazine issue 133.

Pattern details

You will need:
● Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran, 100% cotton, 50g/85m per ball;
1 ball each in Buttercup Yellow (623) (Yarn A), Bubblegum Pink (651) (Yarn B), Lime Green (629) (Yarn C) and 2 balls in Spearmint Green (626) (Yarn D)
● 4.0 mm (UK 8, US G/6) crochet hook
● Yarn needle

This backpack is made up of squares. The front comprises of four squares which are joined and the back has one large square which is then joined to the front squares and a flap is added.

The straps are made separately and hand sewn into place.
A drawstring is made and threaded through the top of the backpack.

A flower square to the first 4 rounds is approx 10cm (4") square
