This gorgeous quilt, featuring holly leaves and berries, is the perfect Christmas make. The green, red and black colours used for the pattern make it really striking!
Designer Lynne Goldsworthy raw-edge appliquéd the leaves, but you could needle-turn appliqué them if preferred (just remember to add a quarter inch seam allowance to the templates). The same applies for the holly berries at the centre of each of the holly leaf blocks. Lynne used a machine blanket stitch around the outside of the leaves and berries – giving a lovely, neat finish to the raw edges. Again, you could hand sew the blanket stitches around the raw edges, or your machine may have other decorative stitches you prefer to use to edge these pieces.
The Jolly Holly quilt pattern by Lynne Goldsworthy was first published in issue 107 of Today's Quilter magazine.
