About the design

Sew a summery thirst-quenching slice of watermelon and a lemon perfect for fresh lemonade. The lemon is made up of four segments, each using a different yellow print fabric. Make it from green prints instead to create a lime! The watermelon slice uses curved seams and features embroidered seeds.

This pattern is designed by Linda Clements and was first published in issue 128 of Today's Quilter magazine.

Pattern details

This digital pattern download includes:
● Step by step PDF instructions with colour photography to follow.
● Printable templates (these are UK A4 size pages which you can print out at home).

You will need:
For the watermelon:
● Pink fabric for the fruit flesh – One (1) fat eighth
● Pale green fabric for the inner flesh – 9in square (for bias-cut strips)
● Mid-green fabric for the middle flesh – 9in square (for bias-cut strips)
● Dark green fabric for outer skin
– 9in square
● Layers of batting for stuffing
– approx. 26in square in total
● Dark brown stranded cotton for embroidered seeds
● Spray fabric glue or glue stick
● Card for templates
● Templates – Template A for the fruit flesh, B for the outer skin and C for the batting stuffing

For the lemon:
● Four (4) yellow fabrics for the lemon – 3in x 6in of each
● Two (2) green fabrics for the leaf (a dark and light) – 2in x 3in of each
● One (1) brown fabric for the stalk
– 2½in square
● Toy stuffing
● Templates – lemon and leaf templates

Finished size:
● Watermelon – approx. 6in x 6in x 1in
● Lemon – approx. 2½in x 4¼in
