About the design

Free from all spikes, apart from those embroidered onto it (plus the ones you'll use to
knit it), this cactus cushion is soft enough to cuddle up to without fear of injury.

It’s knitted in super-chunky yarn, so will grow quickly without the need for water or sunlight!

This pattern is designed by Louise Walker and first appeared in issue 54 of Mollie Makes magazine.

Pattern details

You will need:
● Erika Knight Maxi Wool (or alternative super-chunky yarn), 100% wool, 100g/80m per ball, two balls in Artisan (020)
● A small amount of chunky yarn, such as King Cole Big Value Chunky, in Green and Cream for embroidering the spikes
● 10mm straight needles
● Stitch holder
● Polyester toy stuffing
● Tapestry needle

Tension: 8 stitches and 12 rows to 10cm (4") over stocking stitch

The cushion is knitted in two pieces – referred to as ‘Side one’ and ‘Side two’ – before being embroidered, sewn together and stuffed.

Finished size:
Approx. 47cm (18½") high and 36cm (14") at widest point
