About the design

Three-dimensional fruits make great decorations and are also perfect for using up fabric scraps and dipping into your stash to use old favourites. For the apple, which has six segments, Linda used three different greens, using each fabric twice. The fabrics can be patterned or solid – it’s totally up to you. You might choose to make them in ‘realistic’ colours or go funky with modern patterns and unexpected colours.

This pattern is designed by Linda Clements and was first published in issue 125 of Today's Quilter magazine.

This digital pattern download includes:

You will need:
For the apple:
● Three (3) green fabrics for the apple – 5in x 6½in of each
● Two (2) green fabrics for the leaf (a dark and light) – 2in x 3in of each
● One (1) brown fabric for the stalk – 1in x 1½in
● Toy stuffing
● A long doll needle
● Templates – Apple body and leaf templates

For the banana:
● Three (3) yellow fabrics for the banana – 8in square of each
● One (1) brown fabric for the stalk – 2½in square
● Toy stuffing
● Brown stranded cotton
● Templates – Four (4) banana templates

Finished size:
● Apple – approx. 4in x 3in (excluding leaf)
● Banana – approx. 1¾in x 7½in (including stalk)
