Winter Mittens Knitting Patterns PDF Bundle

For the penguin mittens, you will need:

● Sublime Superfine Alpaca DK, 100% alpaca, 50g/120m per ball, one ball each in:
Yarn A - Soft Grey (433)
Yarn B - Tusk (430)
Yarn C - Flannel (434)
● Drops Fabel 4 ply, 25% polyamide/75% wool, 50g/205m per ball, small amount in Yarn D - Mustard (111)
● 3.25mm (UK 10, US 3) circular knitting needles
● 4mm (UK 8, US 6) circular knitting needles
● 4mm (UK 8, US 6) double-pointed needles
● Scrap yarn
● Stitch markers
● Tapestry needle

These are knitted in the round on circular needles, but you can use double-pointed needles instead. Divide the sts evenly over the needles, cast on two extra stitches for a seam allowance, and sew up the mittens at the end.

The steps for the left and right mittens are the same, except the thumb gusset. Add the face detail at the end, using duplicate stitch.

Tension:
22 sts and 28 rows to 10cm (4") over stocking stitch on 4mm needles

Finished size:
Approx. 23cm (9 1/8") long and 9cm (3 5/8") wide

For the colour block mittens, you will need:

● DROPS Lima, 65% wool, 35% alpaca, 100m/109yd
per 50g, two balls in Pearl Grey (9020) (Yarn A), one ball each in Goldenrod (2923) (Yarn B) and Powder Pink (3145) (Yarn C)
● 2mm (UK 14, US 0) circular knitting needle
● 4mm (UK 8, US 6) circular knitting needle
If you use the magic loop method you’ll need a cable at least 80cm (32") long, alternatively use a circular needle 25cm (9" or 10") long
● Six different stitch markers
● Yarn needle
● Scrap yarn

Tension: Approx. 21 sts and 28 rows to measure 10cm (4") over stocking stitch

Finished size:
Small: length from cuff to end of hand approx. 18cm (7 1/8")
Medium: length from cuff to end of hand approx. 19m (7½")
Large: length from cuff to end of hand approx. 21.5cm (8½")
