About the design

Whether it’s to celebrate a new arrival or just straight up narwhal appreciation, you had us at unicorns of the sea.

These delightfully tubby knitted minis are a joy to stitch as quirky décor.

This pattern was designed by Gillian Maher and was first published in Mollie Makes magazine issue 107.

Pattern details

You will need:
● Sublime Baby Cashmere Merino Silk DK, 75% merino wool, 20% silk, 5% cashmere, 116m/127yd per 50g, one ball in Splash (0124)
● Sublime Extra Fine Merino DK, 100% wool, 116m/127yd per 50g, one ball in Salty Grey (0010)
● Sirdar Snuggly DK, 55% nylon, 45% acrylic, 164m/179yd per 50g, one ball in White (251)
● 3mm (UK 11, US 2/3) double pointed needles
● Embroidery thread in black and beige
● Yarn needle
● Embroidery needle
● Ribbon, approx. 0.5cm (¼") wide
● Plain felt in cream
● Fibrefill toy stuffing

This pattern is knitted in the round, with double pointed needles. Owing to the size, you’ll knit flat for the first rows, as this will make it easier to stuff afterwards.

To make the trio pictured, knit one narwhal in each of the three yarn colours listed.

Tension:
There is no set tension, just aim for a firm fabric so the stuffing doesn’t show
